The company integrates activities across a Research and Development Department responsible for innovating, an Engineering Department that delivers scaled iterations of bioreactors and bioprocess, and the Operations Department responsible for ensuring the company runs smoothly. These Departments work seamlessly together towards delivering technology that allows a sustainable alternative protein to diversify food stuffs for food security across the world. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our manufacturing processes and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team. This role will be crucial in supporting our research and development activities and ensuring smooth operation of the laboratories.

What this role entails:
- Responsible for and stocking of laboratory supplies, including maintaining the consumables inventory.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including the preparation of materials, reagents, and equipment.
- Support the team in conducting experiments and assist in the execution of standard protocols.
- Support the lab cleanliness and hazardous waste disposal, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with company policies and protocols.

Objectives:
1) Support the company's activities, by performing routine laboratory tasks such as replenish stocks, sample preparation, Lab glassware/plasticware washes & sterilisation media preparation, and sterile technique handling.
2) Maintain accurate records of orders, lab consumables inventory, and hazardous waste storage.
3) Ensure equipment is readily available to use by performing routine basic equipment maintenance and reporting any issues to the relevant team members.
4) Working closely with colleagues to maintain a professional, clean and safe working environment.

Selection criteria:
Experience
- A-levels or equivalent, with Biology and/or Chemistry subject(s). Previous laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting is a plus.
Delivering for an organisation
- Experience in supporting the day-to-day running of laboratory activities, including procurement and stock management.
- Team working
- Demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team, working towards a common goal in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Expertise
Essential:

- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams). Experience with an inventory record keeping software is a bonus.
Preferable:
- Basic knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and sterile techniques.
- Familiarity with health and safety protocols, including chemical handling and hazardous waste management.
