Role Title: Senior Materials Scientist

Cellular Agriculture Ltd. is seeking for a Senior Materials Scientist to deliver biomaterials RDQ projects for cultured meat manufacturing by management of multiple projects, team resources and budget. Is a role which combines project leadership and small-team supervision to investigate a range of materials in the RDQ pipeline, deep materials expertise and hands-on applied research delivery.

You will be responsible for providing direction on technical aspects of material development in order to focus team output, share insight and expertise with their co-workers, as well as working with the line manager to plan the work and reporting to management about project progression.

To succeed as a Senior Materials Scientist we ask for the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Typically a minimum of five years practical laboratory or industrial experience
  • Has worked actively and lead commercially-driven inter-disciplinary science/ engineering/ innovation over an extended period
  • Line managed or supervised small multi-disciplinary teams
  • Problem solving in a practical environment
  • Practical experience in the application of biomaterial science
  • Biomaterials physical and biological characterisation methods,
  • Material tuning/functionalisation and biocompatibility screening
  • Materials production and process scale-up
  • Mammalian cell culture and/or life science R&D experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills for level of experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication style and team working
  • Ability to collaborate for the successful delivery of milestones
  • Ability to integrate into and lead a diverse team and be respectful of others to ensure inclusivity.
  • Ability to acquire, document and share knowledge

 

As Senior Materials Scientist some of the responsibilities will be:

  • Leading delivery of biomaterials projects that combine knowhow in materials science, engineering and cell culture
  • Bring significant expertise to deliver own lab-based research as well as providing input, oversight and structure to others’ project aims
  • Lead and contribute to safety policies and procedures
  • Working with colleagues and partners to develop, standardise and embed material test methods to assess physical properties and biocompatibility
  • Design and execute an experimental programme alongside colleagues and external partners

  • Identify new equipment and processes to assist in technology commercialisation or time/cost savings for the wider R&D team’s activities
  • Continually update knowledge and understanding in the field to support the development of the company
  • Monitor, maintain and improve company-wide safety policies
  • Undertake administrative duties commensurate with the role
  • Participate in internal and external initiatives/events to the benefit of the company
  • Advise and support colleagues to help manage their own and others time and ouput
  • Actively participate in recruitment processes
  • Routinely engage in professional and personal development training.
