Role Title: Process Technologist
Hilton Foods is looking for an ambitious and passionate Process Technologist to join their Operations Team. As a Process Technologist, you will work cross-functionally to deliver NPD and EPD projects that are fit for the customer and the business. The new hire will organise and run factory trials, complete trial reports, generate paperwork and run post-trial reviews. The right candidate has to organise and run pre-productions, encouraging relevant departments take ownership as if was a launch and also complete pre-production report and collect data. Support the factory & Technical department preparing for customer visits. The new hire will work with production teams in developing and maintaining cost effective production processes.
As a Process Technologist some of the responsibilities will be to:
Works collaboratively with other functions, particularly the Culinary and NPD team, taking a hands-on approach, providing support where required outside core functional responsibilities.
Scope covers all NPD and EPD projects across all categories.
Work alongside Chefs and NPD technologists on new briefs and concepts to ensure they are viable for factory scale up.
Run factory trials and ensure trial data is accurately recorded.
Collecting data for costing updates, QAS creation, production process flows, and any other agreed objectives.
Maintain accurate product files with handover, trial reports, trial data, photos, shelf life, nutritional certificates and any other info deemed necessary for that project, ensuring full traceability.
Creation of factory process flows and any other relevant SOP's.
Creating QAS documents, seeking input from NPD, Technical and Production teams, as well as the external customer.
Support specification team to complete product specification.
Present to external customers as necessary for factory trials.
Establish effective working relationships with the customer, suppliers and all internal departments.
Good working knowledge of all plant machinery, capabilities and programmable information.
Project work and new machine commissioning trials.
To succeed as a Process Technologist, we ask that you have the following experience/expertise:
A food qualification such as Diploma or Degree level desirable and/or extensive relevant operations experience.
Ideally at least 1 year relevant experience in the chilled food industry.
Be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to different retailer processes and systems.
Must be able to manage and work to deadlines.
Good level of competence with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as Outlook and Teams.
Experience of customer critical paths and Stage & Gate.
Must be able to be flexible about working hours including early, late and weekend work when required.
Full/clean driving licence is essential with the ability to travel.
Confident and effective communicator, experience with meeting with customers is ideal.
