Following successful business growth within our added value sector we are looking for an ambitious and passionate NPD Technologist to join our Development team to work with the NPD Manager, Development Chef & Process Manager to deliver NPD & EPD to retail customers. As an NPD Technologist you will be creating detailed product documentation and competitor benchmark insight including internal Feasibility Meeting documentation to check and align concepts with production and packing capabilities and capacity, customer submissions documentation and Concept & Process handover documentation as well as supporting the Process Development team with factory trials to ensure factory products match customer approved products.

As an NPD Technologist some of the responsibilities will be to:

  • Review chef concepts and provide practical and creative input to support the development of the best product, best price within manufacturing capabilities.
  • Gather information and complete customer product submission forms based on details supplied by Concept Team. Modify and create new versions for every round of product submission’s based on customer feedback and product refinements.
  • Calculate theoretical nutritional data and Health Scores for each product submission using Tesco ready reckoner. Identify when a product is outside nutritional guidelines and work with NPD manager and chef to rectify.
  • Communicate with suppliers of raw materials and ingredients to clarify technical information for input into the submission forms. Consider minimum order quantities, versus commercial forecast, and technical requirements.
  • Create Feasibility Meeting product documentation based on information supplied by Concept Team. Ensure each new product is shared within a Feasibility meeting prior to customer submissions.

 

To succeed as an NPD Technologist we ask that you have the following experience/expertise:

  • Previous experience as an NPD Technologist within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Is naturally organised and accurate.
  • Is both analytical and practical – happy to be hands on.
  • Enjoys collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Has a passion and interest for all things foodie, including restaurant and retail trends, packaging innovation and new ingredients.
