About the role:
Hilton Foods are looking for a Hygiene Team Manager. Reporting to the Hygiene Manager, you will coordinate the Hygiene team to safely deliver hygiene procedures and methodology which ensure that the Manufacturing facility meets all regulatory standards and customer (internal and external) expectations for the site.
As a Hygiene Team Manager some of the responsibilities will be to:
- Identifying hygiene requirements by monitoring changes in the production environment, developing and refining the CICs and associated schedules to ensure safe food is delivered in compliance with regulatory, retailer COPs and industry best practice.
- Verifying Post Hygiene standards by means of visual inspection and environmental & allergen swabbing where appropriate record the results and have SMART preventative actions for any non-conformance noted through inspection or swabbing.
- Ensuring scheduled routine audits are in place to verify these standards, using the audit as a tool to develop and refine the site CICs and identify Training deficiency’s
- Ensuring the Day Hygiene team (ER2 only), ensuring that there are robust training and succession plans in place and that the team are correctly supporting factory operations.
- Managing the day to day running of the Hygiene shifts across all shift patterns) to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time to ensure a smooth handover to Operations.
- Having an understanding of microbiology and the implications of Out Of Spec Environmental and Listeria swabbing, conduct routine, in depth investigations on any OOS results and use Root Cause Analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
- Ensuring the Hygiene documentation and supporting data, is in place, accurately populated and easy to retrieve.
- Hygiene documentation audits to be scheduled to ensure no gaps exist, is legible, dated, signed off and archived ready for 3rd party, supplier or internal audit purposes.

To succeed as a Hygiene Team Manager, we ask that you have the following experience/expertise:
- Experience in High and Risk environments with an understanding of microbiology and an ability to interpret Out of Spec results.
- Experience in all aspects of building, maintaining, completing and improving Hygiene documentation systems.
- Has an understanding of the financial implications of overuse of resource, chemical, water, PPE etc.
- Has an ability to manage a large team and understands their needs whilst not losing focus of the goal.
- Ability to meet deadlines and targets regardless of the circumstances.
- Preferably has IOSH Managing Safely accreditation.
- HACCP and Food Safety L3
- Internal Auditing.
- COSHH
- Allergen Awareness
- Microbiological investigation techniques.
- RCA Training.
